Polyurethane Concrete Raising Technique

Mudjacking has been used for many years to lift and level concrete, using a cement mixture that is pumped under slabs to give them support. While this method is effective, it does have drawbacks. At Advance Concrete Lifting and Leveling, we have chosen to use a polymer injection technique that uses polyurethane foam to lift and level concrete. This option has advantages over using the traditional cement option of mudjacking, including:

How Polyurethane Concrete Lifting Works

Sunken or uneven concrete isn’t just an eyesore—it’s a liability. Most projects are completed in a single visit, and surfaces are ready for use within an hour of completion.

STEP 1

Drill Small Access Holes

Our technicians drill penny-sized holes through the affected slab, spaced approximately five feet apart. These precision access points are strategically placed over problem areas—no guesswork, no oversized openings. The small hole size is one of the key advantages polyurethane lifting has over traditional mudjacking, which requires much larger, more invasive drilling.

STEP 2

Inject and Compact the Subgrade

Injection ports are fitted into the access holes, and hot liquid polyurethane foam is introduced under pressure. As the foam expands, it compacts weak or eroded subgrade—the soil beneath your slab that is the root cause of sinking. Pressure gauges guide the process in real time, giving our technicians precise feedback on when the subgrade is fully stabilized.

STEP 3

Lift the Slab

Once the subgrade is stabilized, additional foam is introduced slowly and deliberately to raise the slab back toward its original position. This controlled lift eliminates trip hazards and restores a level, functional surface. The process is precise—our experienced crews raise slabs incrementally to achieve the best possible result without overcorrection.

STEP 4

Patch, Clean, and Done

The injection sites are filled and finished with sanded concrete, blending as closely as possible with the surrounding slab.
